Generally speaking, people, to some extent develop an affair with their cars. For some, their relationships with their cars are simply functional, meaning, it is used to go to work, pick up the children from school, or to travel. For some, their relationships are purely professional. Examples of this are auto racers and drivers. On the other hand, there are actually those who develop a relationship where cars are pampered not just for the street but for the showroom as well. However, doesn't matter what relationship you have with your car, it always boils down to a thing - you need to take care of your car.

Changing automobile fluids is one of the most neglected automobile care area. Actually, transmission fluid, engine oil and brake fluid could be compared to red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets of the body. Therefore, it's pretty important to change fluid regularly as per manufacturer's directions. Engine fluid must be changed every 3, 000 to 5, 000 mileage, whilst transmission and brake fluids should be changed every 30, 000 mileage.

One more neglected part of the vehicle is the air filter. Car air filters clean the air that your car inhales to power the engine. Without it your car's engine will choke with dust. An old one does not allow the recommended amount of air into your engine, thus it affects performance. Car air filters and exhaust systems must be checked and changed, as recommended, annually or after every 12,000 miles.

In today's modern realm, the antique carburettor is replaced with more efficient fuel injection systems. Still in more modern cars, the ECU, or Electronic Control Unit, has become standard. The ECU gives your vehicle more horsepower, excellent fuel efficiency, and superior handling. The controls of these units eventually would not match your car specs so ECU tuning needs to be done.

Aside from the tips aforementioned, schedule a habitual maintenance check to prevent preventable wear and tear to your car. The first maintenance check should be done after 15,000 miles, the following after 30,000 miles, and the rest of the checks must be done after every 30,000 miles.
