A More Eco-Friendly Way To Fuel Your Vehicle

By Vanessa Summer

Many are tired of gas prices, but have no idea as to what to do about it. Many people are now purchasing fuel-efficient cars to help cut back on the amount of money spent on gas. It wasn't too long ago that prices began to climb for gas. We'll talk about what alternatives we have for gasoline.

Alternative fuel is essentially fuel that is not gasoline or diesel. Numerous autos these days are powered by electricity, solar energy or hybrid of gas and electricity. There is also an option to utilize water to create energy to help save on fuel. There are reasons why many companies are making the effort to create cars that use alternative fuels. In Europe, the environmental laws have become more rigid and taxes have been tacked on to fuel so there was no choice for auto makers. There could even be other restrictions on the emissions of greenhouse gases.

The atmosphere is suffering because of all the carbon dioxide being released into the air by automobiles run on fossil fuels. This results in climate changes, particularly raising temperatures, and contributing to global warming. It's hard to believe that there are vehicles that are running on fuel cells, solar energy, ethanol, and hydrogen. LPG is liquified petroleum gas, and autos running on it are running on a mix of butane and propane. The compressed gases turn into a liquid. This fuel not merely provides cleaner emissions but it brings down fuel expenses too.

Cars that use energy from the sun can either generate electrical energy to run the motor or use it to produce hydrogen. The solar arrays are located on the roof of the autos. Other autos utilize ethanol, which is sourced from plants. The fuel is created when plants or crops high in sugar or carbohydrates undergo fermentation. In Brazil, sugar cane-based ethanol has replaced approximately 200,000 barrels of crude oil each day. They have reduced their deadly emissions by over 30% with their ethanol powered cars. Cars that use fuel cells use energy from oxygen and hydrogen that are made from these fuel cells. These cars are very clean as they produce water vapor and heat.

In the case of hybrid automobiles, like the Toyota Prius, they use multiple fuel sources. They are able to use advanced technology to combine a small gas-powered engine with an electric-powered motor. It makes use of both of them at various times, like the electric-powered motor when going slow speeds. Traveling at superhighway speeds, both are being used and the battery is being charged at that time too. Resolving environmental problems is the intent of adapting to more expensive fuel prices by looking int alternative sources for energy.

Do you spend about 1/3 of your home's energy to heat water? Thermal Solar Hot Water Solar is one of the lowest cost ways to start producing renewable energy in your home. All you need is an old broken water heater and common spare parts around the garage and you could be producing solar hot water by the end of the weekend.
