A Comparison of Hybrid and 4 Cylinder SUVs

By Ted Williams

SUVs have been and are among the hottest kind of automobiles. There are many reasons for this as they offer an array of advantages. Some of the most commonly cited ones are power, design, ample space and the versatility they offer. Also let's not forget that many folk consider them to be standing boosters.

However , besides these advantages they've also got a few disadvantages as well. One of the most vital ones is bad fuel efficiency. Naturally, it's not a shock that cars of this size that offer so much power and towing capacity don't perform that well in the fuel potency dep.. This drawback deters some of the potential shoppers, while the others are looking for SUVs with good fuel potency. Below we're going to take a look at 2 of the available options, not specific automobiles but subcategories from the SUV class.

The first available possibility is to purchase a compound SUV. Technology has permitted auto makers to combine standard gas engines with electric engines and to reuse some of the energy that in a traditional auto is wasted to improve fuel potency. Now there are approximately 12 of different composite SUVs on the market. The good thing about composite SUVs is that they customarily offer comparable performance and power with conventional SUVs. The distressing thing is they cost seriously more compared to their conventional opposite numbers.

The other choice is to select a compact 4 cylinder SUV. Most automobile manufacturers now offer compact SUVs that draw power from smaller 4 cylinder engines. These cars are often less expensive and provide enhanced gas mileage compared to V6 or V8 SUVs. Their main disadvantage is that since they get power from a weaker engine they're significantly less strong. They have smaller horsepower and towing capacity.

To sum it up, folks looking for an SUV with good gas mileage have two main options. They can either go for a hybrid if they can afford the higher price ticket, or they can choose a smaller 4 cylinder SUV in which particular case they are going to have to compromise with a less forceful engine. Naturally the best eventuality is usually to have an option that none of these compromises would have to be made. Perhaps in the future when the technology behind compounds will become less expensive this might become a reality.
